Group Project Report

We will be researching mostly about how social media affects an individual in the workplace. We will provide different examples of how social media has gotten individuals in trouble with their boss. We will also look at the pros that social media can provide for an individual such as putting themselves out there so companies and businesses can notice them. As well as the cons to see how social media has many disadvantages and how you have to basically filter what you put on your social media.
In our group we will split up the research and the Prezi so that everyone will research and design a slide about what each group members found about the topic at hand. Jesus Ortuno will be in charge of researching the effects that social media bring onto the workplace as well as provide an example. Miguel Salvo will also do some research especially on the regulations that are put on employees by their workplace. Saidev Rao will focus on the design of the presentation and to make sure everything is in order. Thanh Tran will focus on the pros and cons in social media and the workplace. He will also make sure that the presentation has no technical or grammar errors. At the end we will all split up the work to make sure everyone did an equal share, and to make sure everybody knows what each slide is about.
The sources that we are looking at using are mostly different websites on the internet. One example is, http://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-fired-2011-5?op=1, this site shows some perfect examples of what the business is like and how it can all change because of the social media. Furthermore, we will use Google.com to research the percentage of employers that actually go through your social media prior to hiring you. We will also go deeper into looking at the statistics of how many people have actually gotten in trouble due to their social media profile

Overall most of the books found on Project Gutenberg are HTML formatted. Think the reason for this is that I am using a computer to look for these link and the site wanted to give me versions optimal with what they know i am currently using.

Chinese Gold Farmers

Most people who plays MMO's or Massive Multiplayer Online games play it for fun. Being lost into a virtual world where you can do anything you want can be lots of fun for some people. Besides from that, there are players who aren't actually player but instead they turn the game into a day to day job

In China, there are a few companies in the game World of Warcraft hiring over 100,000 workers to play the game and earn in game currency. They work 10 hours long boring hours a day with only 3 days off a week averaging 30 cents an hour. The job requires you to play the game killing as much monsters as possible and collecting the "drops" which usually is the in game currency or items which can later on be sold. The gold is then transferred the boss which sells them to an online retailer (eBay or amazon)  and from there on players around the world can purchase the fake currency for around 20 dollars a batch. Overall the whole industry accumulates a net worth of 135 million dollars as the annual wealth.

Even though gold farmers in general are frowned upon by the gaming community  a job is a job.  Trolls, or players who horse play, constantly interfere with the process which only makes the job that much harder. Not only that the hours and repetitive work is already miserable enough. I feel that people shouldn't have to do jobs they dont like but wheb that's the only option they have at that moment then let them be. They have it bad enough.
